Monterey Car Week, the program of the event – Specials

From August 13 to 21, 2022, the best cars of yesterday, today and tomorrow’s prototypes will tread the roads, golf courses, parks and even the asphalt of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on the occasion of Monterey Car Week, the container of the most exclusive events in the world attached to the automotive world. During the week, over 25 events including red carpets, car shows, competitions, auctions, culminating in the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance at the “18 holes” of the famous green.
On August 13th we start with the Monterey Pre-Union. Over 300 historic race cars will compete at the Laguna Seca track.
From August 15 to 17: Automobilia Monterey Expo at the Embassy Suites Monterey Bay-Seaside, the market where fans can buy vintage posters, books, artwork and other gadgets.
August 16: Classic Motorsports Monterey Kickoff Cruise, the street party that officially opens the curtain on Monterey Car Week. The location is the beautiful Pacific Grove with hundreds of classic and sports cars that will be parked along Lighthouse Avenue.
On August 17, the first exclusive event: Motorlux by Hagerty, formerly McCall’s Motorworks Revival. Inside the Monterey Jet Center, it will be possible to eat appetizers and toast champagne in an environment of worldliness with collector cars and motorcycles as well as executive jets. During the event, it will also be possible to preview the lots at the auction organized by Hagerty.
On the same day, at the Pacific Grove Lighthouse, over 100 minicars with at least 25 years of operation and engines of less than 1,600cc will be on display. The show in downtown Pacific Grove will be followed by a tour/parade around the city’s picturesque waterfront and beaches, starting at Lover’s Point and following Ocean View From 5 to 8 p.m., at the Laguna Seca circuit, Rolex Monterey will also kick off the Motorsport Reunion. A celebration of motorsport with hundreds of historic racing and sports cars ready to compete in the world’s premier motoring event.
Also on the 17th, at Casa Palmero in Pebble Beach, the arrival of the cars that participated in the Pebble Beach Motoring Classic is expected. A trip of approximately 1,500 miles, which started from the Pacific Northwest coast, will feature many of the cars that will compete for the “Best in Show” award at the Concorso di Eleganza on the final day.
Hagerty’s auction is scheduled for Aug. 18 at the Monterey Jet Center with about 80 vehicles. At Pacific Grove Golf Links, it’s time for the Autobahn Legends, the gathering dedicated to German cars: BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi. Over 400 cars including rare and historically significant models.
During the same day, from 7 to 12, over 150 of the cars participating in the Concorso di Eleganza will parade through the streets of the peninsula. The tour includes steps on the legendary 17-Mile Drive and Highway One to Big Sur and back. Three auctions are scheduled from August 18 to 20: Mecum, at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa at Del Monte Golf Course; Russo and Steele Collector, at the Downtown Monterey Waterfront at Fisherman’s Wharf and Rm Sotheby’s Monterey at the Convention Center. Friday the 19th, The Quail at Motorsports Gathering, at Quail Lodge Golf Club. Definitely the most exclusive event of the week. Tickets for this event are awarded by lottery and payment of an entry ticket over $500. Guests at The Quail will be able to admire the most prestigious cars from the most exclusive collections while enjoying dishes from celebrity chefs. The most important and famous manufacturers in the world are unveiling here their prototypes and the models they will focus on in the following year. The winner of the “Best of the Best Award” will be chosen from the cars on display. A few meters away from the event, other collectors will try to take one of the cars home for auction at Bonhams. It was made in collaboration with The Quail and has, among other things, a Bugatti Atalante Type 57C from 1938 with a millionaire price.
At sunset, at the Laguna Seca paddock, an exhibition of 50 vehicles, including race cars, supercars and other icons, representing the ultimate essence of the RADwood era (1980-1999).
On August 19 and 20, the Gooding & Company auctions will take place at Pebble Beach Resorts. Gooding & Company, the official auction house of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, will host collectors, buyers and sellers of some of the world’s most important automobiles at the prestigious venue for the 71st Pebble Beach Concours. Le Pebble Beach Auctions is the only auction within the gates of the famous 17-Mile Drive and allows enthusiasts to not only view but also buy cars of impeccable quality, design and provenance.
August 20: The Concours d’Lemon, at Seaside City Hall 440 Harcourt Ave Seaside. A Goliardian race that sees many vehicles of questionable taste on display. The judges will assess bad design, bad taste and give advice on why the car in question should not be bought. Rusty, ugly cars and the worst automotive landscape of yesterday and today will be on display.
At the same time, the Concorso Italiano will be held at the Black Horse golf course, the biggest tribute in the world to Italian cars. An event with a red carpet, debates and presentations.
Every year, Italian personalities from the automotive world are invited. Around 900 cars registered.
August 21 is the grand finale. It starts in the morning at 5 in the morning when the first cars from the Concorso di Eleganza start lining up at the 18th hole of the Green at 17.00 17 Mile Dr.
