PUBLIC EDUCATION – The municipal summer recreational centers involving 19 complexes of the center and villages in the month of July concluded in recent days
The activity of Summer recreation centers in the municipality of Ferrara, which involved 19 school complexes distributed throughout the municipal area from 4 to 29 July 2022, with the participation of 757 children and young people attending municipal infant centers (0-3 years), municipal kindergartens and state (3-6 years). ) and elementary schools (6-14 years). The broad offer, which is widespread both in the city center and in the villages, has concretely obliged the municipal administration to provide an answer as timely as possible to the needs of Ferrara families.
The satisfaction with the service provided was also analyzed thanks to the satisfaction questionnaires administered to families, who particularly appreciated the proposal of laboratory activities and educational excursions organized in the centers.
Many activities carried out by children and young people that characterized the days of the 2022 edition of the Leisure Centers: among these environmental educational workshops, the played yoga and the motor games and the weekly meetings with the children’s dog friend ‘Daniele’.
It continues instead until 10 August 2022 the activity in the first part of the 14th edition of Italian summer school for children, teenagers and mothers of foreign origin, promoted by the Municipality of Ferrara – Foreign Students Integration Office and Urban Security Office and managed by the VIALE K Odv association, coop Cidas and Coop Il Germoglio in collaboration with ANOLF. The initiative had started on July 4; the second part of the summer school takes place from 22 to 31 August 2022.
There are several places involved: Leopardi School holds courses for elementary school students, the bridge class for 6-year-old children entering elementary school and courses for foreign mothers (in collaboration with CPIA) who bring children from 0 to 5 years old (welcome with a babysitting service), la headquarters of the Viale K association in via Mura di Porta Po it hosts the classes for the students of the lower secondary schools while it is at the school San Bartolomeo the Italian course is held for a primary class.
The summer school proposed this year is the result of a strong commitment from the municipal administration of Ferrara, which, compared to before, has aimed (also with the regional funds made available by DGR 731_22) to expand both offices and premises and the overall educational offer, with the particular aim of focusing on support and tools also for the benefit of the Ukrainian population fleeing the war, which has led to a significant increase in requests. A formula that has proven to be effective, as shown by the first results that indicate a strong growth in the total number of both enrolled students (190 against 125 in 2021) and the participating mothers (37 compared to 17 in 2021). But above all, the figures really testify to the large participation of Ukrainian students and Ukrainian mothers in Italian language workshops, which favors integration and inclusion in the school context (about 80%).
The activities of the summer school, which aim to stimulate children and young people’s curiosity, imagination, creativity and give them the opportunity to deepen Italian vocabulary and competences in specific areas, are organized over five days: from Monday to Wednesday lessons in Italian frontal. , Thursday and Friday L2 expressive and playful didactic workshops. Alongside the physical activity workshops (including handball and tchoukball) there are theater, music, comics, pastry and biodance workshops. Activities were also proposed with the Palio of Ferrara, a morning of readings by an operator from Casa Niccolini and trips to the Castle of Ferrara.
Among the many proposals that have reported extremely positive feedback, in particular the novelties included this year in the program, real innovations compared to the past such as the promotion and exhibition of psycho-pedagogical support activities for boys carried out by a psychologist and an educator from the youth service of the municipality of Ferrara e individual counseling for foreign mothers (owned by two operators of the Municipal Center for Families of the Municipality of Ferrara).
The current project makes use of the collaboration and synergy between L2 teachers, pedagogues, volunteers, intercultural mediators and operators of the organizational unit for school integration in the municipality, as well as the collaboration between different services in the municipality of Ferrara.
