For over twenty years, the Immigration Studies Center of Verona, with the financial support of the San Zeno Foundation, has carried out the initiative of language courses for scholastic integration of young people with an immigrant background. It is a unique project in Italy for longevity and territorial dimensions which involved about a hundred young teachers and some high school volunteers to teach foreign children and teenagers.

“I couldn’t have missed today’s appointment – said Mayor Tommasi-. First of all, because Cestim is one of the first associations I met when I started my political adventure, and secondly, because I am well aware of the commitment to summer camps for children and their social value. The summer camps in addition to providing continuity to educational activity, represent an opportunity for important enrichment for our young people thanks to the comparison and the relationship with educators and the opportunity to share common experiences and create new ones, for enrichment also outside the school desks. I share that with Councilor Buffolo for Equal Opportunities and Innovation the most urgent innovation is to talk about young people to young people and above all to young people. When the teacher-student system is deconstructed, we are able to see our reality and your schools with new eyes and find the energy that we carry within us all year round, both the children who attend the centers and the teachers who return to their schools.classes. This is society’s growth path. Our goal is to represent the whole community and the many differences that enrich it, find the synthesis to make them coexist in the best possible way and give everyone the opportunity to be valued. Cestim’s contribution to this vision remains a priority, for the experience, but above all for the goals and the ways in which it pursues them.

“I have a great responsibility to represent the diversity found in Verona and of which Cestim is the proof with its presence in the area for twenty-two years – it comments Councilor Atitsogbe -. The diversity must also be brought forward through these organisations, which must certainly have an important place in our city, but above all through these children and young people, who are our future. Opportunity for training e language learning is very important, most of these children transfer their knowledge to their parents and give them basic help“.

«I am happy to have been able to provide logistical availability and provide our headquarters in Corso Porta Nuova in Cangrande with all the necessary equipment. With a view to the alliance in the territory and an open school, I immediately welcomed this request, which was then successfully fulfilled”, concludes Matteo Sansoneprincipal of the Liceo Montanari.
