The conflict between Russia and Ukraine began on Thursday, February 24, which militarily hit Ukrainian territory: a week later, the sharp escalation of violence pushed the Ukrainian population to flee their country in search of protection and assistance.

According to new data provided by national authorities and collected by UNHCR, at least 4.8 million refugees from Ukraine are registered across Europe, including those who initially entered neighboring countries and subsequently continued their journey.

As of 28 June 2022, 132,619 Ukrainian citizens have applied for temporary protection, mostly women and children, 39,000 Ukrainian minors with a request for temporary protection in May 20222.

Since March 2022, INTERSOS has been a partner of the Municipality of Rome in the Task Force in response to the Ukraine emergency in the capital.

INTERSOS 24, already home to many reception activities, will be transformed into a Single Access Center for vulnerable women with children. An integrated and interdisciplinary reception model will be proposed in the center, which starts from the individual and promotes the rebuilding of a life path, protects children and guarantees them the necessary protection.

The INTERSOS24 center in Rome hosts up to 25 guests and will have staff trained to take responsibility for vulnerable users, survivors of gender-based violence, at risk of labor exploitation

Purpose of the position

Within the project, the selected figures (2 operators) will work together with the multidisciplinary team for the reception and support of Ukrainian women-child cores with health vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities and tasks

The operator will take care of:

  • support for the cores is welcomed
  • ordinary management of the center (warehouse, laundry, etc.)
  • kit distributions
  • I work with the interdisciplinary team
  • I accompany you to the services


Educational Qualifications

  • Certification from a social-health operator or cultural mediator will be considered preferred

Professional experience

  • 2 years of work experience

Professional requirements

  • previous experience of supporting users with frailty / working in reception centres
  • work in social projects
  • knowledge of local services
  • ability to work in a team,
  • capacity within warehouse and laundry management


  • fluent Italian and English
  • preference Ukrainian

Personal requirements

  • ability to work in a team,
  • willingness to listen and work with vulnerable users
  • Driving license will be considered a priority
