Apulian design between B2B, exhibitions and workshops
BARI – Focus on made in Puglia in the field of excellence in furniture and design, putting innovation and creativity at the center and building commercial relationships: these are the challenges that the Puglia region and Unioncamere Puglia have taken up for the 85th edition of the Fair del Levante , offering a wide program of initiatives, exhibitions and meetings dedicated to the design sector, aimed at manufacturing companies, professionals in the design world and the large audience of enthusiasts.
The event for the improvement of Apulian design will animate the Bari exhibition center during the Campionaria days, scheduled from Saturday 17 to Sunday 25 September 2022, with a large billboard.
The Puglia region, thanks to an export result in the wooden furniture sector that exceeded 433 million in 2021, following the success achieved at Expo Dubai and Fuori Salone Milano, proposes again, in Puglia, in the rooms of the Fiera del Levante Congress Center the exhibition”In the blue painted blue”which showcases the creativity and expertise of 22 Apulian companies and designers.
«Puglia focuses on artistic and traditional craftsmanship and its talents, which show that they know how to combine innovation with history and traditions, and which make Puglia great in the world. With this initiative, we intend to highlight the expertise of Apulian companies and designers “- declares the Regional Councilor for Economic Development Alessandro Delli Noci -” by offering an important opportunity to promote one of the sectors which historically helping to drive the wooden furniture sector in foreign markets. Just in 2021, in a year complicated by the persistence of the pandemic, we saw the highest growth in sector exports in the last ten years in Puglia: 44.7 percent more than in 2020 for an absolute value of over 433 million euros, in a very positive balance with respect to imports ».
The second initiative in the project will be carried out in the same surroundings as the Fiera Congress Center: Design for business which takes place from 19 to 23 September. 25 of the most talented Apulian designers and artisans will have the opportunity to meet production companies looking for talent and develop business and creative paths together.
“It’s a meeting between who offers and who seeks design services – explains Damiano Gelsomino, president of Unioncamere Puglia – with personal business agreements that will facilitate the matching between designers and entrepreneurs ».
Each designer will have the opportunity to exhibit their own prototype, from wooden artifacts to those in iron or glass, from fashion to traditional and traditional crafts, from furniture to jewelry; not forgetting packaging, toys or musical instruments.

The third initiative, ManiFuture, is a tribute to the historical tradition of Fiera del Levante, also open to operators from other regions. In Hall 110 from 17 to 25 September, exhibiting companies will have the opportunity to offer their products directly to the audience of visitors. Around 100 thousand are expected, also thanks to a series of conferences and exhibitions planned in the area overlooking some of the most important names in Italian design. Alessandro Ambrosi, president of Nuova Fiera del Levante, which is co-organizer of ManiFuture, explains: “There will also be a retrospective of the great Riccardo Dalisi, sheep of the famous ‘Neapolitan coffee machine’, produced by Alessi and awarded a Compasso d’Oro in 1981. There will also be exhibitions and debates on other great names in Italian design, from Vico Magistretti to Franco Albini and statements from companies, there, project culture, from small businesses they have evolved to become one of the most representative champions of national production“. Companies interested in exhibiting at ManiFuture will be able to download the notice of participation from the Unioncamere Puglia website.
The close program of initiatives to improve Puglia’s design, promoted by the Puglia Region and Fiera del Levante, with the support of Puglia Sviluppo and Unioncamere Puglia, will make use of the precious and qualified collaboration between ADI Puglia and Basilicata (Association for Industrial Design) and Puglia Creative District.
