Call for admission to the training course for obtaining managerial skills on board ships for deck officers (300 hours) and engine officers (570 hours)

PROCIDA – The director of the higher institute “F. Caracciolo – G. da Procida “prof.ssa Maria Saletta Longobardo formalized the opening of registrations for the Editions for the school year 2022/23 of the “Training course to obtain managerial skills for deck officers and machinery “As required by DD n.1365 of 4 December 2013 and later amendments.

Candidates, in order to be admitted to the course, must have the following requirements at the time of the deadline for the call:

  • be a citizen of one of the states of the European Union;
  • be in possession of the certificate of qualification as an officer

The course provides the necessary knowledge to fulfill the skills specified in STCW Code 78/95 and reported in section A-II / 2 as well as the IMO 7.01 course model and is divided into the following functions according to Annex A to DD n. 1365 of 4 December 2013, amended by DECREE 7 February 2018. Revision of annexes A and B to the decree of 4 May 2017, regarding: “Updating the training programs for obtaining management-level qualifications for deck and engine officers mentioned in subsection executive order of 4 December 2013”. For the 2022/23 school year, the following editions are planned with relative start and end dates:

  • Covered Edition – Launched 28/09/2022 using the training book
  • Machines Edition – Start 28/09/2022 using the training book

The start of the individual editions of the courses, apart from any variations due to force majeure, will only take place when the minimum number of participants has been reached (10 regularly registered and updated with payments).

Classes will normally take place from Monday to Friday for eight hours a day from 8:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 17:00 and on Saturdays for five hours a day from 08:00 to 13:00. The final timetable will be published on the institute’s website.

During the course, changes may be made to the calendar and schedule for any educational or organizational needs.

Participation in the course is compulsory, and a number of absences are not recorded, even if, for justified reasons, it is greater than 10% of the total hours of the course and 10% of the hours on each individual module. Therefore, participants must attend at least 90% of the total number of hours, otherwise they will not be admitted to the final exam.

Applications for access to participate in the editions of the course for 2022/2023 must

be completed in accordance with the fax prepared and attached to the notice and accompanied, under penalty of rejection, by a legible and front photocopy of a valid document, front photocopy of tax code or health card, front-back photocopy of the IMO certificate of registration and qualification of officer /first mate/commander, photocopy of the navigation booklet (first and last page certifying the last embarkation or unloading, certifying entry/disembarkation on a ship flying a foreign flag, endorsed by the flag consulate and approved by the prefecture, or departure certifying entry/disembarkation on a ship flying a foreign flag with a foreign navigation book), a training notebook on board (first page with ship stamp and captain’s signature). In the absence of the training notebook, he will not be able to participate in the course. The training book will be evaluated by CTS, for admission to the course. It is clarified that the original of the training book must be submitted before the start of the courses.

When registering, the application must be accompanied by all necessary documents.

The payment of the first installment of € 300.00 must be made no later than 15/09/2022 through the PAGO PA application upon invitation from the school secretariat. Failure to pay the first installment will result in automatic exclusion from the course. The subsequent payment of the amount owed must be made no later than 15 October 2022.
