The Small Seeds of Citizenship project is born: it targets the children of Gela, Butera, Mazzarino and Riesi

The project Small Seeds of Citizenship was launched a few days ago, a project selected by Con i Bambini as part of the fund for the contrast between youth education poverty and created thanks to a network of municipalities, school institutions and entities of the third sector to increase services and make children’s services available to families. Six new spring sections will be activated for children between 24 and 36 months, one for each partner school.
Thanks to the project, the schools will be able to accommodate 120 more children than those already registered. The micro-nursery in Riesi will be improved, which will be able to accommodate three more children than the eight already hosted, and the services dedicated to children between three and twelve months will be improved. A total of 16 workshops are set up to strengthen the educational pathway: eight workshops for children between 12 and 18 months (2 for each municipality) and a further eight workshops for children between 12 and 18 months 18 and 24 months (2 for each municipality). Through the project services, it will be possible to intervene early to limit learning difficulties and in dealing with students on the autism spectrum, phenomena which are often the basis of school dropouts in upper secondary school.
Small seeds for citizenship will also be an opportunity to structure social and cultural inclusion paths for foreign families with very young children, who thanks to the project will be able to access social education offers. In each municipality, a family room will be set up with support services for the beneficiaries. The leader of the Small Seeds of Citizenship project is the club ARCI Le Nuvole di Gela. The partner network consists of the municipalities of Butera, Gela, Mazzarino and Riesi; I Girasoli ONLUS Association (Mazzarino), Democratic Parents Coordination, Comprehensive Institute G. The leader of the project is Circolo ARCI Le Nuvole, which for several years has been involved in developing and promoting non-profit childcare services in the south of the province of Caltanissetta, characterized by a structural collaboration with the territory, educational institutions and other non-profit associations , from precise commitments on the quality of the pedagogical, organizational and structural proposal, from the sharing and participation of families in the educational project, from sustainability and financial availability for families.
