Minister Di Maio: “Italy is design”
Aise – “Italy is design. A historic legacy for the future that we celebrate today, anywhere in the world, with the Italian Design Day, the annual event launched in 2017 to promote our country’s excellence abroad.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, launched today the initiative promoted and organized, as part of the initiatives beIT and Vivere all’Italiana, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Association for Industrial Design and with valuable support from ICE Agenzia, Triennale di Milano, Salone del Mobile Milano, Federlegno Arredo and Altagamma.
The theme for the 2022 edition is “Regeneration. Design and new technologies for a sustainable future”, Di Maio recalled and noted that “the most iconic works of Italian design have the great advantage that they are always current, even with the years and sometimes the decades. This happens when innovative ideas are added to aesthetic research, transformation of materials and working methods. with respect for tradition, a renewed vision of the world.
“Design and its interpreters are increasingly being called upon to reject lifestyles that combine functionality, well-being and environmental sustainability,” the minister continued.
“At the center of this year’s Italian design day, we have therefore asked the questions about urban renewal, reuse and recycling of materials, in full context and synergy with Rome’s candidacy to host the World Exhibition in 2030 and with the proposed theme for it, based on the possibilities of regenerating territories in the light of green and digital transitions. “Inventing new products and processes based on sustainable technologies, based on the concept of circular economy, is today a priority need, strongly marked by the communities in which we live and where our children will grow up.”
As Minister Di Maio pointed out, “in order to achieve such ambitious goals, constant dialogue and international cooperation between architects and designers is crucial, on the one hand, and the institutions’ support for all actors and operators in the sector, on the other, from companies to research and development centers “.
“The numerous initiatives organized for the Italian Design Day by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its diplomatic-consular network, the Italian cultural institutes and the ICE offices in over 100 countries, involve more than 115 designers, architects, researchers, entrepreneurs and journalists of the highest profile, and the also sees among their goals the promotion of the 60th edition of the Milan Motor Show, “reported Di Maio.” With this sixth edition of one of the most successful thematic exhibitions in Farnesina, we want to help promote every opportunity for to access and consolidate our presence and performance in international markets, also and above all in the current international situation. “
Condemns once again “The unjustified and unjustified Russian aggression against Ukraine”Minister Di Maio explained that the “drama of the war” and the “serious humanitarian crisis” that followed have had “economic consequences that pave the way for post-pandemic recovery globally.
