But the collection WARM FLASH it goes far beyond the purely aesthetic effect, a central element of the Rotterdam-based designer’s artistic vision. It is the result of an in-depth study of the light and the sensation it is able to evoke, and gains a real emotional value through the way it is present in space. These new objects are part of a long-term path that sees the transition of IKEA from pure functional lighting to the home to one that focuses on well-being and the creation of sensory experiences that affect our mood and the atmosphere of the house. The collection WARM FLASH will be available from spring 2023.

MUTUAL CELEBRATES LATIN AMERICAN CREATIVITY

“We hope that people can experience new emotions and write their own story through these design and art objects that we have created”, explains Trini Guzman, muralist and multidisciplinary artist from Santiago, Chile.

The collection MUTUAL is the result of a choir project involving nine artists from Latin America, where IKEA has recently opened stores in the Dominican Republic and Mexico and is preparing for the next openings in Chile, Colombia and Peru. The aim of this collaboration is to celebrate and give voice to talents from different creative areas: design, fashion, art, architecture and food. Everything that has the power to unite and create sociality is a source of inspiration for this new pulsating collaboration, born of the stimulating mix of cultures, expressive forms and authentic stories that combine with each other and resolve themselves in their diversity. The result is a range of products designed to encourage and help people celebrate life and socialize while enjoying good food, listening to music and creating the right atmosphere to have fun, regardless of space and budget. This breakfast will also be available in 2023.

IKEA AND MARIMEKKO: THE FIRST PATTERN AND THE FIRST SAUNA PRODUCT

In April last year, the two brands announced their collaboration on the creation of a collection based on the sauna’s Nordic culture. The selected name is SAUNAa term used to identify the sauna in the province of Småland, where it was founded IKEA, the result of the union of “sauna”, a Finnish word adopted in many languages, and “sauna”, a Swedish term meaning sauna. Awaiting the launch of the entire collection in March 2023, IKEA And Marimekko revealed the first pattern in the collection, which will be displayed on a recycled polyester shower curtain.
