23/06/2022 – Rotary and US government close to the elderly: donated lifesaving rapid intervention devices, oxygen concentrators and multifunction wristbands, to measure saturation, pressure and drop, in fifteen rest homes distributed in District 2090, more in difficulty due to pandemic and earthquake , in the Tolentino and Camerino Rotary districts, in the Macerata area, but also in Umbria and Abruzzo.

All thanks to the funds made available by the Usaid project – Rotary in Italy: communities against covid-19. In the first trance, two concentrators with some bracelets were delivered to five nursing homes. The first donation was made in favor of Loro Picenos, who now hosts some places in Urbisaglia, in the presence of Mayor Robertino Paoloni, who thanked Rotary. “Our retirement home – he said – needs this accessory, which is crucial to the quality of life of the elderly”.

Rotary District 2090 Governor Gioacchino Minelli along with Lisa Ruhe, Health Prevention Committee Chair Stefano Gobbi, and Carla Passacantando, Rotary Tolentino Secretary, then reached Asp Civil Aid Tolentino “Porcelli” aboard the District District Camper 2090 for the second donation. “Thank you to Rotary – said Laila Cervigni, Head of Structure – who is always close to us. Various services have been developed over the years for the benefit of our structure”.

The units were then delivered to the “Lazzarelli” nursing home in the San Severino Marche. “This donation – explained President Teresa Traversa – is a very important initiative for the nursing home. We therefore thank Rotary.”

The donation to Gagliole’s retirement home followed. “These devices are important – added Laura Taccari, plant manager – they improve the service we have”.

The donation was also given in favor of the retirement home in Esanatoglia. “We are grateful – says leader Eleonora Merli – for the donation”.

The second trance of donations concerned the nursing homes in Sarnano, at whose handover ceremony was present manager Marco Gatti, that of Gualdo municipal councilor Filomena Moretti, that of Penna San Giovanni di Moira Serafini, from Sant’Angelo in Pontano by the director of the structure Claudio Pascucci. With Minelli, in addition to Ruhe, Gobbi and Passacantando, there was also the assistant to Governor Stefano Quarchioni. These units were also supplied to Easp, Gualdo Tadino’s personal assistance agency “Baldassini”, to the “Mosca” home in Gubbio, to the Opera Pia Bartolomei Castori in Foligno, to the Andrea Rossi home in Assisi, to rsa. The concentrators and multifunction bracelets were purchased with $ 100,000 for health care from the district UsaidRotary Commission.

Rotary and USAID are working together to address the primary and secondary effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy. The general purpose of the proposed activities is to provide assistance to the Italian communities affected by Covid-19 in areas of intervention related to public health, education and economic development, to help the country recover from the pandemic and create more resilient community in the long run.
