Slides, castles, swings and climbs in the middle of the green: Rimini municipality with its latest investmentsmind, aims to configure itself more and more as a city suitable for children through the design and construction of new spaces dedicated to those scattered throughout the territory.
To date, there are 83 play areas in public parks and green areas in the city, of which 20, between 2019 and 2021, have been rebuilt or expanded for a total intervention of 450 thousand euros.
The seven largest are at Parco XXV April (Marecchia park), Fellini Park, Papa G.Paolo II Park (Ex Cava), Briolini Park, Spina Verde Park (Miramare), Fabbri Park, Elvis Presley Park (Viserba) and Peter Pan Park (Gaiofana).
The one in Fellini Park is called ‘Tutti abo’ and was, as the name suggests, created in the name of spaciousness after a participatory planning. Distributed by surface of about 1500 square meters, it is easily recognizable by its slide in the form of a sea dragon that characterizes it. To be free of architectural barriers, games were installed as accessible and usable as possible by all children, starting with the collection of ramps accessible to any user: from the visually impaired to those in wheelchairs, to those who love to run fast or jump.
The play areas in the school complexes, on the other hand, are about thirty. A great deal of work in this regard will also be done at Parco del Mare, where it is the project is for the construction of three play areas equipped with equipment aimed at performing recreational recreational activities and integrated with the system of green wooden areas.
Innovative and distinctly creative structures with architectural components inspired by the nursery rhymes of Gianni Rodari, one of the greatest educators of the time, whose imagination and imagination are the clue in the design and construction of these three different spaces intended for children and teenagers and designed to be accessible to all.
From the ‘sea forest’, which will be built on Lungomare Tintori (line 1), which will be completely surrounded by green areas and will provide swings, wooden fountains, climbing tunnels and bunks, to the ‘Stazione del mare and Julivogn’ which will be located in the beginning of Lungomare Murri (section 2) along the footbridge paved in stoneware within a specific area shaped like a ‘sardine’ where play structures in the form of trains will be built.
Then there will be ‘The roundabout of the whole world’ (section 3), which will be able to count on an area of 160 square meters. Here it will be possible to find a number of playful creations that aim to stimulate reciprocity and interaction between children through works that involve movements such as having to jump, test oneself with acrobatics, climbing, sliding and so on.
A redevelopment of Parco del Mare, which in addition to offering spaces dedicated to fitness and outdoor sports, with its varied outdoor fitness centers, will also guarantee children, including preschoolers, the opportunity to experience Rimini’s waterfront to the full, benefit from its spaces and enjoy the sea air.
“Urban development must be oriented and think about the needs and requirements of the youngest citizens, who have the full right to have areas available, where ad hoc, where you can meet their peers, have fun, make friends and live onopen – comments Mattia Morolli, councilor for public works in Rimini municipality – Play areas are stimulating and lively environments, which represent an added value not only for children, but for all families and the city in general. Projects that provide a sense of community and that should present themselves in the eyes of the community as a gathering point for all children, where physical or sensory disabilities are not a limit in terms of using games and socializing with others. At Parco del Mare, for example, whose play areas are designed and planned so that they can be used and inhabited by any child, following a very specific concept: “growing together”. As Rimini Municipality, we are investing more and more in the creation of inclusive works and to offer the small functional spaces for their enjoyment and well-being. ”
