Archaeological Museum of Old Capua
Saturday, June 18 at 17-19, Archaeological Laboratory:
Southern High School, with the Regional Directorate of Campania Museums and the Superintendence of Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Caserta and Benevento, presents the first results of the research, with scientific guidance by Prof. Carlo Rescigno, on materials from 1993 excavations of the archeological complex known as the Bronze Workshop. Graduate students from Southern High School Roberto Domenico Melfi, Vincenzo Tallura and Lorenzo Toscano, will exhibit the results of the research and will present a preliminary selection of the finds identified so far during the study of the deposits from the Archaeological Museum of Ancient Capua, as relevant ceramic and pictorial finds, the Roman domus and a selection of materials related to the Bronze Workshop, as proof of the famous production of bronze ceramics known as Campana Suppellex.
17.30 inauguration of the exhibition “Citations from the Underground” by master Gianni Pontillo. The exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Lions Club of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, unfolds in the museum premises in close relation to the archeological collection, which increases the perception of the paintings. Quotes from the monumentality of the cities of Campania and the reproduction in a contemporary key of finds exhibited in the Archaeological Museum of Ancient Capua are the result of the artist’s preparation and his vision of antiquity crossed by a clever use of color. There will be a representation of the members of the Naples Host Lions Club. The exhibition is open until 10 pm and is open until Tuesday 21 June.
20:00 visit to an hour-long “Discovery of the Old Capua” by Le Nuvole.
