The last survey operations in the second quarter: examples of primary and secondary Class I ballot papers

The final inspection in the second quarter will take place in person according to the schedule prepared and specifically announced by the school director for each institution. In the absence of the school principal, class coordinators are usually delegated to preside over the session from all school levels.

Teachers are absent from the class council for evaluation

The possibly absent teachers – as DS professor Giuseppe Sangeniti writes with great sharpness – will make sure to leave their judgment elements available to the teaching team. The tutors, co-owners of the class, will participate in the evaluation of all students. During the review, the teaching team will jointly approve and transcribe in the evaluation document for each student in the class:

  • The learning objectives and relative levels in relation to the individual disciplines. For the primary school, the greatest emphasis must be placed on descriptive judgments and refer only to them;
  • The global judgment
  • The synthetic assessment of behavior
  • Descriptive note for evaluating the teaching of the Catholic religion or of alternative activities for students who make use of this doctrine, prepared through a synthetic assessment, referring to the expressed interest and the levels of learning achieved;
  • Skills certification sheets (only for the final grades, eg fifth grade in Primary and third grade in First Grade Secondary).

Elements to be noted when preparing the voting report

The report on the study – which DS professor Giuseppe Sangeniti writes with great sharpness – will highlight the lack of training and recovery strategies for students in difficulty; as well as criteria and methods for continuous, periodic and final assessment of learning, in accordance with Legislative Decree no. 62 of 13 April 2017. The coordinator must, at the end of the review, unless otherwise stated by each school principal and therefore for each school, print a copy of the minutes signed by all the teachers of the board to be deposited in the records.

Agenda for the votes

Below is a possible (therefore only indicative) agenda for convening the final votes:

  • Evaluation of the class group and approval of the final report;
  • Approval of the school year
  • Final review with attention to both the synthetic judgment regarding the individual student’s behavior and the overall judgment of the individual student;
  • Transcription of the final grades on the electronic register platform.

The electronic register of grade and personal are public acts of legal value

It is emphasized that the electronic class and personal register are public deeds with legal value and will therefore be implemented in their entirety. Individual teachers are responsible for their compilation and pre-closure control (teacher signatures, teaching topics and activities performed, assessments, disciplinary notes, absences, reasons for absence, delays and early departures of students …).

Teacher’s service obligations

Each teacher who is a member of the class council must participate in all survey operations. Since this is a “perfect college”, the presence of all the teachers who make up the class councils is necessary for the validity of the operations. The Covid and improvement teachers do not participate in the review, but will provide the necessary information to the class coordinator in advance. The tutors, co-owners of the class, participate in the evaluation of all students.

Polling area in the class register

On voting day, the “voting area” will be permanently closed and it will no longer be possible to make changes.

Minutes of the ballot paper

The minutes of the ballot paper will be prepared on the basis of the information entered in the register during the voting operations and will be uploaded to the dedicated area of the electronic register. Teachers will also make sure to verify the accuracy of the number of absences due to the electronic register. As for the final reports, teachers will refer to the documents already found in the specific section or on the school’s website or, according to the school’s organizational methods, in the electronic register. But no matter what the site presents, many school leaders prefer to give them the verbal model in a timely manner. Like the principal Prof. Giuseppe Sangeniti, who with great competence and professionalism heads the State Comprehensive Institute “A. Pagano” (Kindergarten, Primary and 1st Grade Secondary School) from Nicotera (VV), who has excellently prepared the models (and is attached as an excellent example of an excellent school) for the preparation of the final minutes of both primary and first and second grade in high school and finally for third grade in high school.
