CitizenM London Victoria ready for debut

The summer of 2022 opens with the inauguration of the new citizenM UK sign in the heart of central London: citizenM London Victoria. Ten years after the opening of the first London hotel (citizenM Bankside, followed by the Tower of London and Shoreditch), the disruptive burgerM hotel is bringing its hybrid hotel model to the new address Vauxhall Bridge Road, 292.

Dedicated to business and leisure travelers who want to sleep well, work, meet and relax, the new hotel is located close to the Victoria train and bus station hubs on Vauxhall Bridge Road – with easy connections to Gatwick Airport and Greater London – and is close to major tourist attractions in London such as Buckingham Palace and Tate Britain.

“We are thrilled to open the doors to our latest property in London,” said Klaas van Lookeren Campagne, CEO of citizenM hotels. “With three hotels already operating successfully in the city, this new address represents a fantastic addition to our existing portfolio and confirms our commitment to further expand into London’s most coveted neighborhoods.”

The 226 rooms at citizenM London Victoria, spread over 10 floors, are each equipped with a king-size XL bed (and expensive bedding), a powerful rain shower, MoodPad touch control – including preset mood settings. programmed – to better manage room temperature and lighting, entertainment, alarm clocks and shutters and an HD TV with streaming options, all of which can also be controlled via the super-award-winning citizenM app.

The interior design of the rooms and common rooms is characterized by clean lines, modern decor and bright colors that are typical of borgerM. Concrete, a proven partner for citizenM based in Amsterdam, designed the interior and exterior in collaboration with the executive architecture and interior design studio ICA.

As a hybrid hotel, citizenM will bring distinctive common spaces open to the city to its new neighborhood. The living room is thought of as a house in itself; an inviting space with nooks and crannies for work, fun, reading and relaxation. In this space, citizenMs “orderly chaos” is divided into local art, books and artifacts, as well as elegant and comfortable furniture made by Vitra, another historical partner of the Dutch group. In the center of the building, the canteen is open 24/7, serving as a place of refreshment at any time of the day, from breakfast to midnight snacks; guests can order takeaway coffee made by the barista, linger in the living room with a glass of wine, order a business lunch with delicious sandwiches and salads or saturate their sweet tooth. Behind the bar sits an iconic undulating bench on a raised platform that connects with the Kings Scholars Passage (KSP). Natural light enters the building from the open windows at the back of the room.

Since its foundation, citizenM has placed great emphasis on the support and protection of local artists. An integral part of any citizenM facility, citizenM London Victoria’s art in the room has been thought through and playfully curated, leaving room for young London talents to document and redesign English culture. In his series of photographs, Luke Stephenson traces the story of the 99p ice ball through a road trip to England; while Julie Cockburn, who is a trained sculptor at Central Saint Martins and already has numerous exhibitions in her honor in the UK, Europe and the US, uses found objects and vintage photographs and reconfigures them with contemporary colors. Finally, Lorenzo Vitturi, from London, brings his colorful compositions of the Ridley Road Market in Dalston, Hackney – the fruits and vegetables and the lights of the multicultural neighborhood – up to the walls of the borgerMs bedroom.

When a new hotel opens, citizenM is always generous in strengthening and supporting the local community. For citizenM London Victoria, the brand was happy to do so with a donation to the KSP Community Garden Project. This historic corner of Westminster passes right next to the hotel, and with the support of local partners, including citizenM, KSP is creating a public garden to revitalize a hitherto neglected space.
CitizenM hotels offer travelers affordable luxury accommodation in hyper-busy city centers. The launch of citizenM London Victoria is the perfect embodiment of the brand’s willingness to provide this service to modern travelers in various areas of one of the most visited cities in the world.
This quarter, citizenM also launched the world’s simplest hotel membership program: mycitizenM +. With no points to collect, no bronze-silver-platinum levels to reach, members sign up just to enjoy “all the benefits without points”.
