the dress code in school

There is a time of year when controversy seems to be getting hotter than any other time. These are the ones who go crazy on social networks, and not just them performed by students and parents on the one handAnd of professors and school leaders on the other hand when temperatures rise and the heat becomes almost unbearable.

This is certainly not news, on the contrary. That of dress code in school it is a difficult and thorny subject that year after year tends to assume ever larger dimensions that explode just in the period prior to summer.

And if there are schools and institutes that play in advance, set precise rules and are often considered stringent by the students, there are those who instead experience that they, often without fencing, face the development situation, which gives rise to real unpleasant episodes.

The rules for dressing in school (and beyond)

Dissatisfaction, however, is always the same, though rules have already been laid down. Of course, everything will get complicated when teachers and principals do not have a written regulation accuse the students of showing up obscene attire during school hours.

But despite the fact that we’ve been talking about it for years, the controversy is flames under the heat of late spring. Because the boys want to get out of there total freedom to express yourself also through clothing, but on the other hand, they find principals and teachers who question and impose a clothing arrangement through restrictions and prohibitions.

The most common requests are the ones to be avoided tank tops, shorts and skirts above the knee, but these are not always received with understanding by the very young. Sometimes the confusion is due to the fact that there are no written rules on the outfit and that the verdict is therefore postponed to the subjective opinion of a teacher or a principal.

The question at this point is spontaneous: a school can determine students’ dress code? The answer is yes, or rather there are no rules prohibiting it. Each department therefore has the right to regulate any dress code for boys.

And it’s something that really does not only concern the world of the very young, but even the adults.

In any job, no matter what position, it is required tacit and not to have a particular dress code. Some positions, more than others, also provide for this through collective agreements and company agreements, which refer to specific tasks, obligations and security.

This has, as in the case of school disputes, given rise to discussions on several occasions and allegations of discrimination. But in the more general context of things, the employee has the right and duty to respect the workplace through a decent and respectful attire for the image of the company and colleagues.

To find an answer to the most difficult question ever, which therefore concerns workers and also students, we can say that the general rule, which goes beyond the uniform or safety clothing, is trusted common sense.

Legal allegations or discrimination?

But even getting into what is called common sense can be difficult. Especially when this is exposed to boundaries and subjective visions. And an example of this is the non-declining scholastic strife that pervades schools across Italy. The students’ voice is also accompanied by parents asking for more flexibility in front of heat waves who does not spare anyone.

The catfight between students and teachers does not seem to stop, on the contrary, it is enriched by unpleasant, sexist and even discriminatory episodes against students and above all female students, as confirmed by some news facts. For sometimes the boundary between moralism and a legitimate request is crossed by both sides.

Fortunately, however, there are also those who are willing to do so open a dialogue with the other party as shown by what happened in the classrooms inLuigi Einaudi State Institute of Higher Education by Dalmine. The proliferation of dress code rules, which prohibit the use of shorts, tank tops and skinny dresses, created dissatisfaction among students, which was immediately heard by the school principal. The request to insert medium-length trousers, up to the knee, was accepted by the teaching staff and a compromise was found.

And whose dialogue was the solution to this unstoppable conflict?
