Hyundai Transys exhibits lifestyle products developed with partners

Presented for the first time in February at the international leather fair Lineapelle 2022, Hyundai Transys’ innovative CMF (Color-Materials-Finish) seat concept embodies the company’s environmentally friendly development philosophy, the use of recycled materials and attention to mobility solutions from the future.

As part of the “Shift to Regenerative Mobility” theme, Hyundai Transys has partnered with Lineapelle to use recycled leather and other sustainable materials manufactured by Italian manufacturers Dani SPA, Manifattura di Domodossola and Dyloan and by Korean suppliers Dual and ATKO Planning.

Presentation of the CMF concept at Design Week in Milano – the most important design fair in the world – Hyundai Transys intends to highlight not only the design of the seats, but also the new lifestyle that will be possible to experiment with future autonomous electric vehicles.

“At Hyundai Transys, we aim to expand our capabilities to various mobility solutions beyond cars and to develop methods to minimize waste and recycle used materials to provide a more enjoyable experience in future mobility,” said Sung. -kyung Hong, Hyundai Transys Design Team Leader. “With this CMF concept, we demonstrate how environmentally friendly and ethically sourced materials can be excellently used in an autonomous mobility space that will become an everyday place in our lives that does not resemble conventional car interiors.” “

Hong added: “At Lineapelle 2022, our concept aroused much more interest than we had expected. At Design Week by Milanoeven more people will be able to look at what is possible in the space of future mobility. “

Through the project, Hyundai Transys has demonstrated its vision of becoming the mobility design company of the future, in addition to designing mobility seats, by introducing various services that can give passengers greater comfort, such as cushions. , travel bags, slippers and blankets.

In addition, Hyundai Transys will be exhibiting lifestyle products made in collaboration with the next generation of designers from South Korea’s leading design school, Hongik University. Through the project “From Mobility to Lifestyle Space”, the company aims to create new value by reusing the advanced leather materials from the CMF concept and regenerating them into creative products for entertainment, smart work and well-being. Ultimately, Hyundai Transys wants to lead the industry towards a more sustainable and creative use of materials for future mobility.

Hyundai Transys’ Participation in Design Week in Milano demonstrates the company’s “environmentally friendly circular design” philosophy.

Both the CMF concept and the university collaboration project focused on organic and ethical production of leather materials and waste reduction. The CMF project used regenerated tanned leather for the seat sections and woven leather to reinforce the backrests, giving a touch of different texture and minimizing leather waste due to the cutting process. Leather scraps were reduced to powder and regenerated into yarn, which was then combined with yarn obtained from recycled PET bottles to create a unique regenerated fabric for the floor.

Hyundai Transys minimizes the environmental impact by reducing waste, switching to renewable energy and developing environmentally friendly products based on its vision of “Transforming into sustainable mobility”. Its CMF concept is an important step towards adapting its product range to Hyundai Motor Group’s vision of clean mobility and the goal of achieving CO2 neutrality.
