The city of Palermo will host 1,400 sheets made by 1,070 schools which accepted the appeal of the Ministry of Education and the Falcone Foundation, launched through the Communication #TheMemoryOfAll. They arrived in Palermo from all over Italy, from Como to Favignana, from Rivoli to Lampedusa. “Laying education is and must be the cornerstone of our school – declares the Minister of Education, Patrizio Bianchi -. In recent years, the girls and boys have wanted to know and participate. This year, they do so through the symbol of the ark, which means bourgeois conscience but also solidarity and citizenship. As a ministry, we have also decided to strengthen our activities in this area and to make one million euros available. In fact, we are publishing a notice addressed to third sector associations on the implementation of education projects and courses on issues of legality and the fight against mafia in our schools – emphasizes the Minister -. Italy has preserved the memory of women and men in the state who fought against the mafia. And it has done so in these thirty years also through schools, the place where the germ of a society sprouts, which must become ever more just and just ”.
“Thirty years is a generation’s time. Today’s children – he declares Maria Falcone, President of the Falcone Foundation – in 1992 they were not yet born, so now more than ever it is important to cultivate the memory of facts and people that have changed the history of our country. We wanted to dedicate this special occasion to them. This year, too, we have had the Italian schools by our side, the teachers who, despite thousands of difficulties, have worked to bring the culture of legality and respect for the values of democracy and justice among the children and have accepted our invitation: give life to their creativity by making a sheets dedicated to a victim of the mafia. More than 1,000 have arrived at the foundation, a sign that the school has once again responded with enthusiasm to our call, and that these thirty years have not gone in vain ”.
