The organization of the conference makes use of the valuable collaboration between the “Aldo Moro” University of Bari, the University of Salento, the Research Center for Religious History in Puglia and “G. Salvemini» by Fasano.
The speakers will address both the complex problem of the study, protection and safeguarding of our historical, historical-artistic, architectural, landscape and environmental, tangible and intangible cultural heritage in relation to tourism policy and economy, planning of cultural processes, management of cultural enterprises , and compatible with environmental and social sustainability.

In a time of great economic difficulties in the West, our country must make a greater effort than others to be able to keep up and start growing again. First of all, the government has strongly indicated the priority need to invest in culture immediately. He then started the big project “Destination Italy”, which sees tourism as one of its cornerstones. The decision to unite the ministries that manage culture and tourism was also a decision that could look ahead, functionally in relation to our country’s growth ambitions. This opportunity was appreciated by local authorities, for the future and the role we are discussing today. Tourism and culture actually have a decisive influence on the development of territorial economies.

The link between tourism and culture is clear and distinct: the extraordinary Italian artistic and landscape heritage, and in detail the local one, constitutes one of the fundamental resources for the sustainable development of tourism and defines one of the characteristics of a unique identity. If the Italian cultural heritage is one of the fundamental levers of our tourism, it can in turn represent a formidable tool for ensuring knowledge and dissemination of our cultural heritage and supporting their full improvement.

The positive link between culture and tourism can therefore only be fruitful because it will increase the potential of both sectors, without, however, affecting their complex and specific characteristics. It is therefore necessary and justified for a thorough reflection on these issues that directly involve our local reality in the specific.

In addition to the scientific contributions to the conference, the school’s involvement in its fundamental role in educating young people and professionals involved in this productive sector, which is so important to the economy and society in this historic moment, should be emphasized.

The secretariat of the conference issues a specific certificate of participation to those interested. Media partner for the event is the monthly Osservatorio and its online magazine
