REGGIO EMILIA – The summer on stage is back and doubles the long-awaited summer camp for I Teatri Foundation, which for 4 weeks – from June 20 to July 15, 2022 – will give children aged 6 to 11 years the opportunity to experience an unforgettable experience with theater , dance and music in the halls and stages of Municipal Valli, Ariosto Theater and Parco del Popolo.
The summer camps are themed and are dedicated to one of the most fascinating and full of suggestions artistic expression: opera. Children compete with Donizetti’s L’Elisir di Amore (weeks 20 – 24 June and 4 – 8 July) and with Hänsel and Gretel af Humperdinck (27 June – 1 July and 11 – 15 July).
The children will sing, dance, perform, test themselves with scenery and costumes and learn how the theatrical machine works, as well as see all the secrets behind the great treasure chest of wonders, which is Valli Municipal Theater. The camp runs from Monday to Friday from 8 to 17.30 and is open to a maximum of 30 children per week, divided into two groups, with some activity hours together. Lunch will also be a “theatrical” moment, which will be consumed inside Valli.
The welcome will be planned every day under the porch of the Ariosto Theater, the activities will take place in the Sala degli Specchi, terraces and various rooms in the Valli Theater and the Ariosto Theater, on whose stage there will be a moment every Friday to return to the families: not a show, but a momentary party where one can sing, dance and perform on stage all together (always in accordance with the anticovid rules).
The summer camp is a project of the I Teatri Foundation, in collaboration with Pædagogisk Værksted, National Dansefond Aterballetto, MaMiMò e Pause Teater Center, Atelier dei Sapori, which – in addition to providing menus and meals – will hold a tasting studio.

The summer camp summer on stage follows the family support project “Reconciliation Life – Work”, promoted by the Emilia-Romagna region and has submitted its candidacy to welcome children with special rights.
In addition, some places on Campus will be reserved for Ukrainian refugee children, who have been welcomed in Reggio Emilia, to confirm the solidarity and assistance to Ukraine concretely.
