& horbar; COMAC has recently completed the voluntary process to obtain two key certifications: ISO 14067 and SA 8000. A choice that takes the form of sustainable technologies and scrubbers with low environmental impact that also comply with CAM
Faced with a real problem like that climate changethere are those who choose concreteness. This is the case with COMAC, which instead of focusing on slogans and superficial greenwashing activities has taken a beton sticonsisting of certifications, studies and technological innovation.
An integral part of this path taken by COMAC is to have achieved 2 important certifications, ISO 14067 and SA8000, which takes the form of realization of truly sustainable machines and systems for professional floor cleaningwith low environmental impact and which at the same time reduces energy consumption. For COMAC, certifications are a fundamental tool for creating value, both inside and outside the company.
The market appreciates these choices. To say this is a Eurisko survey for the Sodalitas Foundation, according to which 76% of Italians believe it is important for the company to guarantee the sustainability of the supply chain.
But not only. Another important aspect is that these 2 certifications (ISO 14067 and SA 8000) is among the award criteria for the new CAM (Minimum Environmental Criteria)the parameters that companies must comply with for the allocation of cleaning services to buildings and environments for civil and sanitary use. In fact, the new CAMs were introduced precisely to support the public administration in identifying products or services with a lower environmental impact from a sustainable economic perspective.
Among the recipes from the new CAM are also:
the use of machines with a certification on Carbon Footprint (climate footprint) UNI EN ISO / TS 14067
the use of products manufactured by companies with SA8000 certification
These are precisely the certifications that COMAC has already obtained. Let’s see below what they certify before we go into detail with the new products for sustainable cleaning developed by COMAC.
ISO 14067: 2018 – Carbon Footprint of Products
The international certification ISO 14067 defines how to calculate the climate footprint of a product, also called the CFP Carbon Footprint of Product. Climate footprint refers to the amount of greenhouse gases emitted through the product’s life cycle, “from cradle to grave”, which corresponds to the impact that the product has on climate change. COMAC considered it important to start keeping the climate footprint of the latest generation of washer-dryers under control in order to minimize the emission of these gases.

SA 8000: 2014 – Social responsibility
This certification expands the concept of sustainability considering not only the environmental but also the corporate governance and corporate social responsibility. Companies that decide to voluntarily join this certification undertake to respect human rights, workers’ rights, protection against the exploitation of children and to provide guarantees for safety and health at work. For COMAC, the SA 8000 is a demonstration of the ethics of its production cycle, which also has a positive impact on the customer who chooses his scrubbing machines. In fact, certification touches on issues that not only involve internal corporate policies but also extend to the supply chain, creating an ethical supply chain that creates value both within and outside the company.

Antea 50 BT CB: a truly sustainable scrubber
One of the first tangible results of COMAC’s commitment to the environment is the Antea 50 BT CB scrubber, the first COMAC scrubber with the CFI mark, the first (among COMAC products) to be included in the Carbon Footprint program Italy.
That Carbon Footprint Italy is a national communication program for the quantification of Carbon Footprints implemented by companies engaged in the fight against climate change, and is part of Carbon Footprint International’s international network. Thanks to this registration, the label with all the detailed information that guarantees the authenticity of the data can be attached to the washer-dryer. The CFI program is based on blockchain technology to guarantee the unique nature and history of the data.
CAMs as benchmarks
But let’s go back to CAM, the minimum environmental criteria, which in addition to dictating the standards that must be respected in order to work with the public administration, also represent important benchmarks for those who, in addition to working with PA, want to embrace one more sustainable approach to professional cleaning.
The CAMs actually introduce, among the various aspects, also some Technical specifications which must be respected by professional cleaning machines. COMAC is obliged to apply these technical specificationsintroducing new products and systems that meet the requirements of the new CAM in various areas.
According to CAM, cleaning machines must e.g. Power supplya type that has always been present in the COMAC offering. Or again: CAM states that the machines must be designed and manufactured in such a way that they promote the longer duration of their service life and Recycling at the end of their life of the various materials they are made of. COMAC designs its machines with regard to their functionality, the quality of the materials, the forecast for the availability of the components for maintenance and the duration of the product itself. He also made one Recycling manual to provide all disassembly information while disposing of its machinery.
The CAMs also presuppose that the scrubbers are equipped with a technical data sheet prepared by the manufacturer stating noise emissions. COMAC has the Eco Mode system to further reduce the noise from scrubbing machines.
But the COMAC machines are also equipped with control and monitoring systems for energy and water consumption, systems that also help the machines comply with the CAM regulations.
Management and monitoring of energy consumption:
Eco Mode to reduce waste di: water, detergent and energy and reduce noise
Comac Fleet Care (CFC) for monitoring and control of Spending and refills
Stop & Go it automatically stops functions of the machine in case of temporary stops
Pressure monitoring (PM) and Intelligent Pressure monitoring (IPM) to control press the brushes of scrubbers
Coaxial turbine for sweepers that allows you to reduce energy waste due to transmission and further warranties less noise and less maintenance
Battery charger high efficiency for all models of machines that include a built-in battery charger
Lithium batteries which allows for high and constant performance over time.
Reduction of water consumption:
Comac Dosage System (CDS) system by dosage which adjusts the amount of solution to be used for the specific dirt to be treated
Stop & Go that allows you to reduce water consumption automatic interruption of machine functions in the event of temporary stops.
Solution Smart Control (SSC), which allows one smart connection of the draft solution pump on scrubbing machines to reduce the use of water during cleaning operations
Constant Solution Flow (CSF), which allows for correct distribution of the solution on both brushes of scrubbers
Non Stop Cleaning (NSC), which allows you to recycle the water used for floor washing
Water treatment by cleaning
Water treatment deserves a separate study as it is a very valuable resource, as well as an indispensable element in cleaning.
COMAC has been thinking solutions that make it possible to recycle water purification operations and thus try to protect water resources.
Therefore, the # comac4water project was born, which focuses on finding the best solutions for recycling water from scrubbing machines.
Today, COMAC has three solutions:
A standard C85 washing machine uses an average of 94,000 liters of water in a year. The same washer-dryer, on the same work shift, but equipped with ReWater technology, uses 41,000, with a saving of 53,000 liters in one year. Well, a C85 ReWater can work for two years using the same amount of water that a standard C85 uses in one year.
Recycle
The system is based on the recycling of washing water from the scrubber after a double act of mechanical filtration and one of separation by decantation, which allows you to work without problems, while always maintaining a constant cleaning performance. The filtered and decanted water obviously does not have a light color like fresh water. However, it can still be used for most of the regular floor cleaning as long as they are performed in environments that do not require special protocols such as healthcare or the food industry.
Comac C85 NSC to recycle water from scrubbing machines
The C85 NSC washer dryer not only makes it possible to reduce the unproductive time when filling and unloading the solution, but above all it allows you to save up to 80% water and 90% chemicals. This results in a high economic benefit that minimizes the environmental impact of floor cleaning operations without affecting the result.
Non Stop cleaning
Solution that allows recycling of water that passes through three phases: normal use, filtration and purification, recycling. To meet the most specific cleaning needs, the C85 NSC PREMIUM version is equipped with an additional filtration step that makes it possible to obtain even more purified water and therefore work with clear water. With the Non Stop Cleaning Premium system, the water can be recycled for a week (with an estimated consumption of 3 hours per day), which reduces consumption and saves the operator the hassle of having to unload and refill the machine’s tanks several times. .

InAqua
External system for washing the cleaning water: “the water washing machine”. The floor cleaner is filled with dirty water, and when using a special product, InAqua is able to collect the dirt and divide it, which provides clean water at the outlet and deposits the dirt in special bag filters. In just 60 minutes, it can purify up to 150 liters of water.
Comac InAqua to recycle water from scrubbing machines
Thanks to InAqua, it is possible to reuse the washing water from any scrubber and, if necessary, also the wastewater from the use of manual cleaning systems, such as dirty water from the mop. Furthermore, after use, InAqua allows the discharge of clean water, which therefore does not pollute the subsoil.
