( Milan, May 4, 2022 – On May 20, 21 and 22, PIANO CITY MILANO 2022 is back, the eleventh edition of this year’s most anticipated piano festival and recognized as one of the most prestigious on peninsula, promoted and created by the Pianocity Milano Association and the municipality of Milan.
Over 216 concerts that you must not miss throughout the city of Milan and beyond, involve more than 300 artists who will perform in 100 magnificent venues to experience and share great emotions with the public through the tones of the pianos. A unique event of its kind, involving institutions, associations, partners and citizens, investing in an increasingly active city, thanks to music and a widespread program throughout the territory. A project curated by Ponderosa Music & Art and Accapiù, which boasts the artistic direction of Ricciarda Belgiojoso and Titti Santini.

“Piano City Milano is the festival that accompanies a lively and dynamic city with music from all over the world. The pianos take place in all neighborhoods, from the gardens of the Galleria d’Arte Moderna to beyond the city limits, in the new places of Milan and in others in transformation that are unusually open in the preview. We offer unprecedented perspectives on the territory and on music, starting with the grand opening concert of Abdullah Ibrahim. After many other prominent Italian and international names with music created for the occasion, spectacular events with six pianos and eight hands. Piano City Milano comes to life thanks to an intense collaboration between public institutions and private companies, enabling the festival to be accessible for free and present in all areas of the city. An example of extraordinary synergy that in this edition involves the municipality of Milan and Intesa Sanpaolo and Corriere della Sera as main partners; Volvo partner; Hermès for talents; institutional partners in Lombardy and the Cariplo Foundation; charging partner Be Charge, a Plenitude (Eni) company; will support Snai San Siro Hippodrome, Bocconi University and Conad; technical partners AIARP, Steinway & Sons, Fazioli, Griffa & Figli, Passadori Pianos, Tarantino Pianos, Tagliabue, Schimmel Pianos, Shigeru Kawai, Scorticati Pianos, Fabbrini, Barletta Pianos. The festival returns to tell and enhance the city by inviting the public to discover unique contexts from new perspectives, new and old neighborhoods, representative locations and others under redevelopment, unusually open spaces for the apartment. The concerts are designed specifically for each of the venues, from different music genres, from classical to pop, from jazz to electronic.
In addition to the historic sites such as GAM Gardens, Volvo Studio Milano, Rotonda della Besana (headquarters of MUBA – Milan Children’s Museum), Triennale Milano Teatro, La Scala Theater Museum, Snai San Siro Hippodrome, new important spaces such as Bocconi Campus Park, ADI Design Museum, Boris Pasternak Promenade at the Feltrinelli Foundation, Piazza Olivetti in the Symbiosis business district and the garden in via Ludovico di Breme with the large mural dedicated to the professions at the forefront during a sanitary emergency. Other news for the festival are Ridotto dei Palchi Arturo Toscanini from the Teatro alla Scala and Sala Verdi from the Milan Conservatory. Particular emphasis is placed on the suburbs with concerts in the MM farms, in the fields of Vaiano Valle, in the Adriano district, in farmhouses that become cultural centers and at Casa Enzo Jannacci, the largest public reception facility in Europe.
