Let’s analyze a very useful and little used tool: the individual school data portal, a single web archive full of data and information that can be downloaded and consulted online.
The joint school data portal was formally established with Act 107 of 2015, Article 1, section 136. It is the tool that the Ministry of Education makes available to citizens to concretely implement the principle of transparency, which guarantees free access to information and school data without having to perform any authentication or identification, as required by applicable law, to know and elaborate on the entire education system.
The school’s common data portal is aimed at everyone: public administrations, families, school staff, students, IT experts, administrative experts, journalists, citizens, etc … anyone who is interested and wants to know the world of the Italian school, make analyzes and develop utility applications.

The common school data portal is established.
The Ministry of Education, University and Research, in accordance with the Digital Administration Code, referred to in Legislative Decree of 7 March 2005, No. 82, guarantees permanent access and reuse of public data from the national education system, publication of data on school budgets, public data on the national evaluation system, the school building register in an open format. , data in aggregate form. from the Student Register, the teaching assignments’ initiatives, the educational offer plans, including the plans for the equal schools in the national education system, the data from the Technological Observatory, the teaching materials and the works self-produced by the schools and published in open format.
It also publishes data, documents and information that are useful for evaluating the educational, technological and innovative progress of the school system.
The portal, administered by the Ministry of Education, University and Research, after consulting the Guarantee for the protection of personal data, makes the data in the student’s curriculum, shared with the Ministry of each school institution, and the teacher’s curriculum available.
The data available on the portal or in any case in the availability of the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research can no longer be requested from the educational institutions.
The principle of transparency.
The portal is a concrete expression of the principle of transparency, which finds precise discipline in Legislative Decree 33/2013 (Consolidated Law on Transparency) as reformed by Legislative Decree 97/2016 (FOIA – revision and simplification of the provisions on the prevention of corruption, advertising and transparency).
Transparency is understood as the overall availability of information on the organization and activity of public administrations, in order to promote widespread forms of control over the performance of institutional functions and the use of public resources.
The purposes underlying the publication of deeds, documents and data meet the needs of transparency in organization and administrative action.
What can be consulted?
The portal aims, in addition to simplification, to permanently guarantee access and reusability of public data from the national education system and the public in an open format:
- data from the student register;
- public data on the national evaluation system;
- data on school staff;
- register of schools
- school building register;
- data relating to PON projects;
- education offer plans, including plans for peer schools in the national education system;
- data from the technological observatory;
The data sets published on this website are made available in open mode under the license terms IODL 2.0, for their full use. The publication of the data is in accordance with the principles of reuse, also for commercial purposes, of public information (Consolidation Act of 24 January 2006, n.36 as amended by Legislative Decree of 18 May 2015, n.102) and with the provisions of the digital administration (Statutory Order no. 82 of 7 March 2005 as amended by Statutory Order no. 235 of 30 December 2010).
