The final design laboratory “Taxi 2.0” – Eco di Savona was presented

Great success for the presentation of the final design laboratory “Taxi 2.0”; Since 2017, design students from the University of Genoa have the opportunity to participate in the Double Degree Program in Design to achieve the double degree with BUCT – (Beijing, China). For the academic year 2021/2022, the activities of the subject design laboratory began at the end of the last year of the course on 27 December 2021 and end with the presentation of the works developed by the students in the dual education on the subject of sustainable mobility Taxa 2.0 for the cities of Genoa and Beijing.

“The project allows students to have a dual education valid both in Italy and in China and in this way the students open the horizon for their future”, declares the project leader, “and the Italian and Chinese students work together without confrontation. Directly and immediately but with important I thank Mayor Bucci, Rector Delfino, the Vice-Chancellor and all those who have made the project possible. ”

Similar words from Fulvio Mastrogiovanni, Vice-Chancellor of the Internationalization of the University of Genoa: “The project is a kind of didactic laboratory and design projects are carried out; Genoa and Beijing are old cities, but live modernity and combine smart transport with more traditional ones. You must learn to design, and you must combine history with modern times without forgetting the different cultures between the two countries; a working group consisted of Italian and Chinese students, which made the children involved become world citizens through design. The small, ecological and modern taxis are suitable both for the streets of Beijing and for the Genoese alleys “.

“I’m happy to be here because we’re talking about the future of our city, but the most important thing is that this is a unique opportunity with two universities that know how to build their role,” said Mayor Marco Bucci. and it is an important project for the children involved.Genova must be competitive and leave a better world than we found it; transport must go towards decarbonisation, but we have a project to have green public transport by 2025. Public and private transport must live with complex realities, and ours is a city that is both complex and uphill, a small strip of land between the hills and the sea; we have narrow streets, and mobility is necessary to provide an excellent quality of life, and eco-sustainable transport, linked to digitalisation, will be possible because our young people think digitally.Frecciarossa is an important step forward for sustainability, even though the telephones on board work poorly due to speed, so there is a need to do something about sustainability and digitalisation. We have been stopped for two years due to the pandemic and we have understood that mobility is important; the subject is critical and strategic, and a big leap is needed for the next generation “.

“I thank those present for their cooperation in saying that sustainable mobility is important, but the fundamental universal value is peace,” emphasizes Rector Federico Delfino, “and I would like to remind you that our university is more than six centuries old. Design is one of the moments in the creative representation of man, but it must be connected with technology with technological humanism; technology is human friend and energy production must be green.I like this project and I want to consolidate the collaboration between the two realities . “

“We are happy for the collaboration, and this project is important to us,” the Chinese project manager emphasizes, “and for the students, it is a great opportunity.”

“The design of this course includes a double degree, Italian and Chinese; the Italian and Chinese students are working together on a project for an urban electric taxi, which is very important for the context of Genoa and Beijing”, concludes Professor Niccolò Casiddu, Director of the Department of Architecture at the University of Genoa.
